Steps to Apply

There are several steps in the application process. This all may look overwhelming, but most social workers can have all this completed within a month. We are here to offer advice and support each step of the way! The US Director is available at all times to assist you in preparing for your move. Please be sure to follow these instructions when applying.

1) Contact UK Pro
You must first contact UK Pro's Senior Recruitment consultant so that basic questions and concerns can be addressed. Initially, this is best to do by e-mail. Please send your resume as an attachment to info@uk-pro.net. We will review your experience and notify you if it is relevant for obtaining a job in the UK. Only those with a social work degree are eligible to apply.

2) Resume
We must have your resume formatted as a British CV. UK Pro has an example CV available upon request.

3) References
New references are required once you have been offered an interview. Your recruitment consultant will offer more information about this procedure once you are on the interview schedule. Old references are not accepted.

4) Background Check
A Criminal Background check must be an American FBI check. Further details on how to obtain this will be provided by your consultant.

5) Additional Paperwork
Copies of your transcripts, degree, passport and working visa will need to be on file before you interview.

6) Qualify in the UK
An organization called the General Social Care Council (GSCC) determines who will be a UK qualified social worker or not. You MUST be qualified through the GSCC to get a job in the UK. If you have a BSW or an MSW from an accredited university, you will likely be qualified, but you must go through the paper work process. You can obtain an application from the GSCC by visiting their website at www.gscc.org.uk and downloading one from the site or requesting that a mailed copy be sent to you. You are required to complete this application and bring it to the interview, or you may send it off before you interview.
